MONGOLIA NEWS: ULAANBAATAR: Republican and Socialist parties want Justice Minister
suspended www.mol.mn TheUBPost, 07 Aug 2003 The Civil Will Republican Party
(CWRC) demanded the suspension of Minister of Justice Ts. Nyamdorj from his position
and a public examination of his income since 1990.In a demand addressed to the
President, Prime Minister and Parliament Speaker, the Civil Will Republican Party
explained that they had carefully observed the dispute and analyzed the top-secret
material involving high-ranking officials, and they demanded the authorities to
establish the truth before making any decision."Unless the truth is established,
suspicion that some officials were connected with a foreign intelligence will
never disappear within the public. Public faith in the authorities is at stake,
as well as trust in national security," said the CWRC.The Mongolian Democratic
New Socialist Party also demanded the Prime Minister to remove Ts. Nyamdorj from
his position and to hold accountable the people who organized and carried out
MP Gundalai's arrest.Members of the National Consultative Committee of the Democratic
Party and leaders of the Mongolian Democratic new Socialist Party held a joint
meeting on the issue of the breach of Gundalai's immunity without the Prosecutor's
permission. By decision of the meeting, a CD showing the arrest will be distributed
to foreign embassies in Ulaanbaatar. The working group also sent a letter to the
Human Rights Committee of the International Parliament Union to present the case
of the arrest and inform them of their discussion on the immunity issue.Parliament
Speaker S. Tomor-Ochir responded that the removal of a Member of Parliament and
cabinet was not dependant upon the demand of any political party. Suspension of
the Minister of Justice must be decided by the law. Top
